Increase ABILITY
without sacrificing AVAILABILITY.

We help athletes safely increase their velo and accuracy by teaching the following concepts:

  • Hip-shoulder dissociation: the secret to "How does Mahomes do that?"
  • Increased range of motion: flexibility accommodates both strength and health
  • Efficient footwork patterns: throw with your legs, guide with your arm
  • Use of modern technologies: film analysis, radar, drone, portable red-light therapy

About Go Long Athletics

Want velocity and accuracy?
Work flexibility and mechanics!

At Go Long Athletics, we specialize in helping quarterbacks and pitchers develop biomechanically-sound throwing techniques.

We focus on hip mobility, shoulder rotation, release point, extension, and developing a strong foundation in the legs.

Putting these techniques together allows quarterbacks and pitchers to throw harder, with increased accuracy, and lower arm stress.

About Coach Long

DL

Hey, I'm Coach Devin Long, and I started Go Long Athletics in 2026. At GLA, we are committed to helping young athletes reach their throwing goals by teaching healthy, repeatable motions. Young athletes are undergoing arm surgeries at an alarming rate these days, especially pitchers, and I'd like to do what I can to help reverse that trend.

To minimize injury risk, my approach emphasizes flexibility and efficiency, instead of max effort. To attain longevity, an athlete's power and accuracy must come from the ground up and the body working as a whole, definitely not just their arm. We do not ever throw through pain; we listen to our arms and adjust our training accordingly. Pain is either a symptom of fatigue or biomechanical inefficiency, both of which should be addressed immediately and thoughtfully.

Although my playing days are over, I still throw every day, either for recreational sports, with my friends, or playing fetch with my dog. I use the techniques I teach every day, and I actually throw harder now than I did when I was 21. It's strange to say, but I am living proof that this approach works both well, but also works over a long period of time.

Despite the high mileage on this old wing, though, I thankfully have yet to suffer any kind of arm injury related to throwing. As I step away from coaching high school, I'd like to pass the strategies that afforded me this good fortune on to any athlete who is willing to listen and work hard.
